How to care for my bed

Do not store your bed in the plastic bag. Not removing the plastic will trap damp, causing mildew, and the eventual rotting of the fabric, resulting in poor performance.

Air your mattress: your body gives off moisture, so throw back the duvet each morning to allow the bed to dry out for at least 20 minutes.

Rotate your mattress at least once a month.

Use a good mattress protector to prevent soiling and keep it in good condition.

Regularly use the soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove dust and fluff.

Do not sit and read or watch TV in your bed, the weight from your hip area will deteriorate that section very rapidly, thus resulting in loss of support.

When getting up in the morning sit deeper into the mattress in order to protect the edges, so as not to create a softening or sagging effect.

Single Bed size - Width

Measured from outside to outside, across the head or the foot of a single bed, the width should be approximately 92cm. Due to the materials used in the construction of the bed there can be a slight variance in the size.

Single Bed size - Length

Single beds are available in 2 standard lengths (most manufacturers offer both).
  • 188cm - By far the most popular size and referred to as Standard Length.
  • 200cm - At 12cm longer it's referred to as Extra Length.
When deciding on what length to buy, you should take into account your height and the size of your room. Generally spring beds, in either std or extra length cost the same, while extra length beds made from foam tend to cost more.

Should I consider my weight

Bed manufacturers provide maximum weight (per person) recommendations for each model in their range.

Don't skimp for a bed that is designed for someone lighter.

Spending a little more on your bed will ensure that it's adequate enough for the job.

Avoid disappointment caused from having to replace your bed sooner than expected and waking up grumpy!
